I have just completed an industrial placement year at GSK and am continuing with the 3rd year of my MPharm course and can offer some general advice. 

I would advise on first considering if you would life to do a 12 month long placement or a shorter summer placement, then search for as many placement opportunities as possible. Start with listing out all industrial pharmaceutical companies by doing a quick Google search, and then idenitfy any placement opportunities available on the company employement websites. GSK offer a variety of placements, as well as Astrazeneca, Pfizer, Roche and Janssen. 

I suggest you apply very soon as the deadlines are arriving steadily! 

Each company has their own unique application process ranging from strength based interviews to general situational judgement tests. It is important to research the company and understand their main areas of work and their values, and to utilise the STAR framework when answering questions. 

LinkedIn is a platform that is very prevalent within industry, so it's a great idea to sign up for a LinkedIn account and get it updated with all your qualifications and experience! There are also plenty of industrial placement students on LinkedIn who you can connect with and ask for more advice from.

Your best bet would be to check out pharma companies websites for internships. You could also try joining PharmAffinity to be connected with people currently doing internships and maybe get some advice from them too.
